Trellis Land Acknowledgment

The staff at Trellis Coworking & Events, Brandon, Johnny, Stephanie, Aleah, Rebecca, and Jason, acknowledge that we are on the traditional land of the Ramaytush Ohlone. The original people of what is now called San Francisco are the Yelamu, an independent tribe of the Ramaytush Ohlone. Descendants of the Timigtac village from the Arami territory are the only known surviving lineage of the Ramaytush Ohlone. This land is unceded and its original people hold sovereignty in their ancestral homelands.

It is important to recognize the hard truth that San Francisco exists in part due to colonization and genocide of not only a people, but a culture. We recognize our responsibility to support our Indigenous community in any way we can.

This statement is meant to recognize the Indigenous stewardship and contributions to this land that existed pre-colonization, exist now, and will continue to exist. It is a reminder to us and our community to reflect on how we benefit from living and working on ancestral land and what we can contribute as uninvited guests. However, words are nothing without action. Our land acknowledgment is only a first step in supporting our Indigenous community and furthering decolonization.

Trellis referred to the Association of the Ramaytush Ohlone's online resources to create this statement.
